THE EVENT
This event has run continuously since 1977 and has, in the past, attracted the best junior players from all corners of the world, many of whom have gone on to represent their country at senior level.
The Nielsen family have had a close association with this event, mother Heather was referee for a number of years and Anders himself won the singles trophy in 1984.
It has remained an elite event, with a restricted draw, which has always been high on the calendar for the best English juniors. Over the past few years the club has built a relationship with ABK in Aarhus, Denmark, through Morten Frost, who has not only brought players from his club to compete, but also donated the Men’s Singles trophy.
This year the Anders Foundation have sponsored the event with an offer of £4,000 for prize money, which must make this the most valuable junior tournament in the country, and we will take the opportunity to invite players from outside the UK and make this an event to remember.
