ANDERS FOUNDATION UPDATE SINCE JUNE 2017

The Anders Foundation has assisted the following charities, events and individuals since June 2017: Badminton
1. Dee Weiner and John Hooper to attend the Special Olympics in Sheffield
2. Training: England U16-U19 players versus former English senior Internationals Milton Keynes
3. Wimbledon U19 Badminton Tournament
4. Talent spotting training once a month for youngsters with disabilities in conjunction with the Charity, Cares4Kids. One of these youngsters, Emma Stoner, now plays for Surrey Under14 able bodied team!
5. Alex Lane winner of the 2017 English National Mens’ Singles.
6. Wimbledon Deaf Team to participate in Sutton & District League.
7. Grants to both Krysten Coombs, Jack Shepherd and their coach, Richard Morris, to train and travel to Korea for the World ParaBadminton Championships. Jack won the Dwarf category with Krysten runner-up. They were runners-up in the mens’ doubles. (Sport England has now given preparation grants for the ParaBadminton Olympics in Tokyo in 2020)
8. Derby U19 Badminton Tournament
9. Youth Badminton Team to travel to Glasgow for International event
10. England Team to travel to European Deaf Championships
11. Coaching grant for Emma Stoner, a young talented ParaBadminton player
12. Grants for young talented able bodied players who are not financed by Badminton England
13. National School Champions, Westgate School, Winchester, to compete in the World Badminton School Games in Pune, India
14. Martin Rooke, ParaBadminton Wheelchair player, help towards qualifying for Tokyo Paralympics. Riding for Disabled

3. Marida Akhurst-Durward ParaDressage Rider who is currently in the National semi-finals and has just been selected to represent Great Britain for the first time in July 2018.

1. Becky Turner to travel to Canada for Downs Syndrome Swimming Championships Other
St. Raphael’s Hospice, North Cheam, Surrey. Purchase of 6 reclining chairs they needed for patients’ rooms
